Questions
Straight answers.
The questions people ask before running a check, answered in full here rather than in a sales call. If yours is not here, ask it and it will be.
What is the difference between SEO, AEO and GEO?
They are three jobs on one pipeline, not three trades. SEO is whether search engines can find, fetch and file your pages. AEO is whether a clear answer can be lifted straight off the page when somebody asks the question. GEO is whether an assistant can identify your business confidently and corroborate it against other sources before naming it. A site can pass the first and fail the other two, which is the usual pattern on a well-built website that nobody can quote.
Is the free check really free, and what does it cover?
Yes, with no account and no card. It reads one page, your robots.txt and your sitemap, and reports identity confidence, the profiles your homepage declares, four foundations, three readiness readings and up to three verified problems, each citing the evidence it rests on. It covers 10 of the 40 criteria in the method, and it says so on the result rather than implying it has seen everything.
Why does the check say “not assessed” instead of giving me a score out of 100?
Because a number built from things we could not see would be a measurement of our own reach, not of your business. If 28 checks cannot be answered from one public page and each is counted as zero, a flawless site scores badly. So not assessed is reported as not assessed, kept separate from what passed and what failed, and never converted into a zero.
Will EdenLens get me ranked, cited or recommended?
No, and anyone promising it is selling something they cannot deliver. Nobody outside Google, Microsoft, OpenAI, Anthropic and Perplexity controls those outcomes, and those companies do not promise them either. What a check can do is establish whether you are eligible to be found, read and quoted, and name the specific things standing in the way. Readiness improves the odds. It is not a guarantee.
I blocked GPTBot. Have I made my business invisible to AI?
Almost certainly not. GPTBot collects content for training. The crawler that fetches your page so ChatGPT can answer and cite it is OAI-SearchBot, and ChatGPT-User handles fetches a person triggers. The same split applies elsewhere: ClaudeBot is training, Claude-SearchBot and Claude-User are retrieval. Blocking a training crawler is a rights decision about your own content, and EdenLens reports it as a note, never as a failure. Blocking a retrieval crawler is the one that removes you from answers.
What happens to my website data when I run a check?
The check fetches public pages the way any crawler would. The result is held for fifteen minutes so you can reload it, then it is gone. There is no account, and nothing about your site is sold, shared or used to train anything. The full review in EdenLens for Mac runs on your own machine using Apple's on-device model, so the pages being assessed do not leave the Mac.
How is this different from the SEO audit tools I have seen?
Most of them award a score, and the score is the product. Ours refuses to, because the honest answer to most questions about a single page is that the evidence is not there yet. Every statement here is tied to a numbered piece of evidence you can check, the things we could not see are listed rather than quietly counted against you, and there is no package of work waiting at the end of the diagnosis.
Do I need a Mac?
Not for the free check, which runs in any browser. The full 40-criterion review runs in EdenLens for Mac, which is in development. iPhone and iPad versions follow. If you want telling when it is ready, the waitlist on the homepage is one email and nothing else.
The check found problems. What should I do first?
Work in the order the result gives you, because the order is the point. Anything blocking access comes first, since content quality cannot rescue a page that machines cannot reach or read. Identity comes next: a business that machines cannot name confidently does not get recommended confidently. Content and corroboration follow. Fixing a heading before fixing a block is effort spent in the wrong place.
My site is on Wix, Squarespace, Shopify or WordPress. Does that matter?
Not in itself. What matters is what arrives in the HTML before any JavaScript runs, whether your business facts are declared in a form a machine can read, and whether your listings agree with each other. Every platform can do those things well and every platform can be set up badly. The check reads the result, not the brand of the tool.
Ready to see yours?
The check takes about a minute and asks for nothing but the address. Run the free check.
