Free SEO, AEO & GEO website assessment
Can search engines and AI understand your website?
EdenLens checks whether search engines and AI assistants can find, read and identify your business, then shows you exactly what to put right. This free SEO, AEO and GEO check assesses one webpage, robots.txt and the sitemap, with evidence and step-by-step fixes.
Confirming you are a person
Cloudflare runs this before each check. If a box appears, tick it. The card closes by itself.
What the check asks
One check. Three connected questions.
In the order that matters: can they reach you, can they read you, and can they tell who you are.
- 01
Can search engines find and file your pages?
Your site answers, its pages can be stored, and the files that guide crawlers are not turning them away.
The trade calls this search engine optimisation, SEO. - 02
Can a clear answer be lifted from your page?
The page says who you are, what you do and where, in text a machine can read without running anything first.
Answer engine optimisation, AEO. - 03
Can an AI assistant identify and verify your business?
Name, address, telephone and hours in a fixed form, and the other places that say you exist agree with your page.
Generative engine optimisation, GEO.
What you get
- It reads your homepage, robots.txt and sitemap.
- It reports what it can prove, with numbered evidence.
- Up to three verified problems, each with the fix and the test that proves it worked.
- What it could not see, named. Not assessed is never a zero.
One real result, step by step
Wraycroft Creamery: from the address to the repair
An invented business. The result is the engine's own output for its fixture page; the domain is a display name. Every line below is the check's own output, before and after the repairs.
Step 1 of 5
The check runs
One address in. The engine reads the page as a crawler receives it, robots.txt and the sitemap, and opens every profile the page declares. About a minute.
- Fetching your homepageRequesting the page the way a crawler would, and timing the response.
- Reading robots.txtWorking out which search and AI crawlers you allow, and which you refuse.
- Checking the sitemapLooking for the list that tells search engines what else you publish.
- Reading structured dataLooking for the machine-readable statement of who this business is.
- Opening declared profilesFollowing the social, map and review links the page declares.
- Weighing the evidenceDeriving the foundations, the readings and the problems worth reporting.
Step 2 of 5
AI answer crawlers blocked (OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot)
robots.txt blocks OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot. Assistants that respect these rules cannot fetch this site to cite it, whatever the content quality. robots.txt also names GPTBot, which govern training corpora rather than live citation.
Prove it worked. Load /robots.txt in a browser and confirm it returns plain text, not a 404 page styled like your site. Then check that no Disallow: / sits under any retrieval agent.
The evidence it rests on
- EV-022 robots.txt names OAI-SearchBot: Disallow: /
- EV-026 robots.txt names PerplexityBot: Disallow: /
- EV-027 robots.txt names GPTBot: Disallow: /
The same evidence after the repair
- EV-023 robots.txt names OAI-SearchBot: not named (wildcard rules apply)
- EV-027 robots.txt names PerplexityBot: not named (wildcard rules apply)
- EV-028 robots.txt names GPTBot: Disallow: /
Step 3 of 5
No machine-readable business identity
The homepage carries no Organization or LocalBusiness node. Search and AI systems have no machine-readable statement of who this business is, where it is or how to reach it, so they must infer it from the page text or from what third parties say.
Prove it worked. Paste your page URL into Google's Rich Results Test. Expected: the business type detected, zero errors, and every field matching what a visitor can see.
The evidence it rests on
- EV-033 Organization or LocalBusiness node in structured data: no
- EV-034 Identity fields present on the business node: no business node
- EV-035 Required identity fields missing from the business node: name, address, contact, url
The same evidence after the repair
- EV-034 Organization or LocalBusiness node in structured data: FoodEstablishment
- EV-035 Identity fields present on the business node: name, address, contact, url, hours
- EV-036 Required identity fields missing from the business node: no
Step 4 of 5
No XML sitemap
The sitemap request answered HTTP 404. Search engines can still crawl the site, but discovery of new and changed pages is slower and less complete.
Prove it worked. Open /sitemap.xml in a browser: it loads, every address in it returns 200, and none carries noindex. Open robots.txt: the Sitemap line is there. In Search Console, the Sitemaps report shows "Success" with a discovered-URL count that matches the file.
The evidence it rests on
- EV-006 XML sitemap HTTP status: 404
The same evidence after the repair
- EV-006 XML sitemap HTTP status: 200
- EV-044 XML sitemap shape and entry count: 3 URLs listed
Step 5 of 5
After the repairs
No repair findings in the checks the quick check could make.
What the second check confirmed
- the site is served securely
- search engines can reach and index the homepage
- the crawlers that fetch pages for AI answers are allowed
- the content is readable without JavaScript (224 words in the initial HTML)
- a business node identifies the organisation with the facts an answer needs
- a sitemap lists the pages worth finding
What changed
The internet moved on. Nobody told you.
Someone who searches for your company already knows you. Someone who asks an assistant "who can solve this?" may never have heard of you. Your website has to help both of them find their way to you.
01 · They know your nameStill important
- Customer
- Search results
- Your website
- Decide
02 · They describe their problemWhere you can be discovered
- Customer
- Sources
- AI answer
- Named businesses
The second journey was never announced. ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot and the summary at the top of Google answer the question before anyone reaches a page of ten links, and the answer is a shortlist drawn from sources the assistant could read and corroborate. The usual advice is to write more. The usual problem is that machines cannot read what you have already written.
One method
One method, not three trades.
You do not need to learn a new set of initials. SEO, AEO and GEO are the three jobs your website has to do, in that order, on one pipeline.
SEO
Get found
Google and Bing find, understand and retrieve your pages. Conventional search indexes are a major retrieval route, so this stays foundational, though some assistants also use their own crawlers and user-triggered fetches.
AEO
Give the answer
Whether a clear answer can be lifted straight from your page when somebody asks the question, whether that is a search snippet or an assistant's reply.
GEO
Be considered
Whether an assistant can identify your business confidently and corroborate it elsewhere before it is willing to name you.
Being technically ready does not guarantee a citation. A citation does not guarantee a recommendation. EdenLens keeps those results separate, and says which one it measured.
The full review, when one page is not enough.
The free check reads your homepage, robots.txt and sitemap. The full review covers forty criteria across eight pillars, reads the pages those criteria need, and arrives as a report: what was checked, what it found, what to change, and the test that proves it worked.
- Identify
- Presence
- Public checks
- Owner evidence
- Report
The order a full review runs in: confirm which business this is, open every profile it declares, run the public checks, read what only the owner can show, then write it up with the evidence attached.
Available now as a Pro Review, checked by an analyst, or as week one of Launch for a business starting from nothing.
When you want a person on it
The full review, with a person on it.
EdenLens Launch
£295
once, no VAT
A guided 90-day programme for a business starting from nothing: the checklist in dependency order, every external clock started in week one, and checks at day 0, 30 and 90.
For a site with almost nothing in place yet. Three dated reports; you or your developer make the repairs, and the analyst verifies them at day 30 and 90, no call.
Pro Review
£695
once, no VAT
The full review verified by an analyst, an AEO and GEO enhancement guide written for your business, a call to walk through it, and a signed report you can hand to a developer or an agency.
For a site that already exists and needs a verified diagnosis. Every finding checked by a person and signed for; a guide to being found and described correctly by AI assistants; a call to walk through it; written answers for thirty days after.
Steward: the quarterly re-check.
A repair holds until something moves. A CMS update breaks the structured data, a robots rule changes, a register entry drifts from what the site says, a new page goes up that machines cannot read. Steward re-runs the same forty criteria, against the same method version, every ninety days, and reports what changed, who owns it, and which acceptance tests no longer pass. It is not a mentions dashboard: if you want to know how often assistants name you, a monitoring tool does that, and we say which.
£295 a quarter, no VAT, stop at any quarter end. It is offered first to Launch and Pro Review customers, in their final report, so that the first quarter compares against a record that already exists. Anyone else can leave an address and hear when it opens more widely; nothing else will be sent.
One email when it opens more widely. Nothing else.
What EdenLens will never do.
- No guarantees. Not of rankings, citations, mentions or traffic. Nobody outside the providers can promise those, and the providers do not.
- No invented facts. What cannot be verified is left unassessed and named as such.
- No score that hides what was not checked. Coverage is stated as counts, every time.
- No hidden text, cloaking or prompt injection, and no advice to use them.
- No dark patterns. No countdown timers, no fake scarcity, no pre-ticked boxes.
